It feels good to have time again to do a couple cafe sketches.

I like the furrowed brow of concern as she reads the YA book. I think she's doing some combination of bonding and parental supervision; I did not get a chance to draw her kid in the next chair, who was obviously the true Animorphs fan. It was cute. Shame they didn't hold still long enough for me to capture the whole scene.

It hasn't been caught in any of these sketches, but it's interesting how you can sometimes see social trends reflected in the cafe environment— a couple of years ago the place noticeably filled with people intently manipulating their iPhones. I've now noticed quite a lot of books, some being read, others left alongside tables and chairs, with titles along the lines of "How To Land A Job— Even In The Worst Job Market!". Signs of the times.
