Just learned that an animator working on the the same project as I at work was murdered over this weekend. He was on a Halloween party/rave on a cruise ship out on the San Francisco bay, and some drunken guy made advances towards his girlfriend. He intervened and the drunk threw him overboard, where he is presumed drowned. Crazy.
I was also floored when I saw in the news today that Walter Sickert, an artist whose work I've always liked, is theorized to have been the actual Jack the Ripper. I remember seeing originals in museums-- usually very dark or monochromatic with areas of bright, fully saturated red. Madness.
